Therapeutic Pilates for Rehabilitation & Post-Rehabilitation

"With extreme pain from Fibromyalgia I could not just walk into any pilates class and start working out. I needed someone to take into consideration my pain and diagnosis. Pilateswise provided exactly what I need! Tuula took the time to understand my condition and history and developed a program to make sure that pilates is helping, not hurting, my condition. Tuula also spent the extra time to make sure I understood how to perform each exercise in order to maximize its benefit. Her program has helped to reduce my pain and gain my strength back!"
- Tom Kavanaugh, Encinitas

Pilates is an effective method of individuals with any musculoskeletal injury or disorder. Pilates targets the whole body, correcting muscle asymmetries and weaknesses, which are often the cause of pain. Our exercises are tailored to each individual, and goals are established to meet specific post rehabilitation needs. Our Pilates teacher will evaluate your posture, movement, alignment, and body mechanics to understand the nature of your injury, pain, and dysfunction.

Pilates Rehabilitation can benefit injuries and disorders such as, but not limited to:

  • Chronic Neck & Back Pain
  • Post-Surgical Post-Rehabilitation
  • Sports Injuries
  • Repetitive Stress Injuries
  • Muscle Strains
  • Acute & Chronic Tendonitis/Bursitis
  • Shoulder Pain: Rotator Cuff Problems
  • Knee Pain: Patellofemoral Pain, Iliotibial Band Syndrome
  • Total or Partial Hip and Knee Replacement
  • Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial Pain Syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson Disease

Our Pilates Teacher, Tuula, has Physical Therapy background and years of experience in rehabilitation. Her teaching style is very personal, therapeutic and holistic. It is important to note that most Pilates instructors have not been trained or have very little actual knowledge about rehabilitation or holistic approach.

Note also that post rehab Pilates is not intended to take the place of medical treatment, but to complete it.
