Tuula has Master degree of Physical Therapy from Helsinki University in Finland. Tuula also holds many additional certifications, including Personal Trainer, Personal Fitness Trainer, Spinal Stabilization Training, Golf Conditioning Trainer, Pilates Mat Instructor and Comprehensive Pilates Teacher by Body Art and Science International (BASI). Earlier in her career, Tuula worked as Physical Therapist for more than 10 years in Finland. She has treated a wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities, from which she learned to progress her patients through every level of recovery. She has specific experience in neurological, orthopedic and women health fields in Physical Therapy. In addition to her full-time job in PT she also taught fitness classes in the fitness centers. She has always wanted to be involved in both Physical Therapy and Fitness. Tuula left her successful Physical Therapy career in Finland by following her husband and moved to the United States in 1997. She started her own business FysioFit in 2000, where she offered Personal Training services (www.fysiogolf.com) and Nordic Walking classes (www.polewalk.com). However, she always wanted to do something that is close to Physical Therapy and she found PILATES. Actually, Joseph Pilates designed his method at very first for rehabilitation, which in fact is like first step to Physical Therapy. Tuula loves to teach Pilates and really feels that finally her background in PT offers a big advantage and she could help better her clients with musculoskeletal problems. So, it’s not surprising that she is specialized in Rehabilitation, Sport (muscle balance and injury prevention) and pre/postnatal Pilates. Now, Tuula brings her many years of hands-on experience and high quality education into your Pilates private sessions. She offers friendly, professional and very personal service to you with her lovely Finnish accent!
